Sotuta de Peon Live Hacienda, is the result of a restoration project of a monument located in the heart of the old henequen zone in the state of Yucatan, and gives a real insight into what was once a fully functioning henequen hacienda. When touring Sotuta de Peon, you will literally travel in time, transported in wooden platforms called “Trucks”, which are pulled by mules on ancient rails of Decauville, as were originally used by workers. Here, you will witness the process, step by step of the transformation of the henequen (or the Green Gold, as it was known in the whole region), from the plant to the fiber and from the fiber to the finished product.
